I've been rollerblading for about 6 years or so, taking a few years break in my Junior/Senior year of high school and Freshman year of college. Before the break, I learned to rollerblade and played a bunch of street hockey with friends in the neighborhood. Nothing serious, but it was lots of fun, and we would rollerblade around town, getting in trouble for jumping off stairs and stuff. I was never that good, though.
Then at the end of my Freshman year in college I decided I would get back into Rollerblading. One thing that helped aid this decision was that my bike seat got stolen, followed by my tires getting slashed and then my bike eventually rusting as I left it outside all winter. I also convinced about three or four of my friends at FAR to get rollerblades.
Since then, I've been blading to all my classes, as it is a pretty efficient method of transportation on campus (even better when pesky pedestrians don't jump in front of you). My friend Tom (and occasionally others) and I frequently go blading around campus late at night just for fun. This gets especially interesting when Tom and I get involved in our late night philosophical conversations as we race around campus at 4 in the morning (sparked by being too tired I think).
People seem to enjoy laughing at me throughout the year, as I occasionally come back from trips all bloodied up and eventually scab up nicely. I had about three pretty bad spills Sophomore year, one coming right at the beginning after I moved to Allen Hall. Everyone wondered who the idiot was walking around with all those scars for the first few weeks. I've still got bunches of scars from my various falls over the years, but it's fun.
I'll try to get some pictures up eventually, but I don't know of what. The image above is a picture of Rollerblade Vapor's, which is the model I currently own.
